Virgin Megastore

Virgin Megastore has been a high street icon everywhere from Times Square in New York to Sydney, Australia. Virgin Megastores is an international entertainment retailing chain, originally founded by Sir Richard Branson when he opened the first music store on Oxford Street in London in 1976.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Virgin Megastores opened over 100 stores in the UK, and many others around the world.

The UK and Irish business underwent a management buy-out in September 2007 which resulted in the Managing Directors taking the company on as the largest independent entertainment retailer in the UK. Extensive rebranding to “Zavvi” took place in November 2007.In late 2008 Zavvi entered administration, and then closed the majority of its stores, selling some to rival HMV.

Projects

Virgin has been instrumental in the success of our business. From our roots in 1994 when David Bridgford was first asked to deliver the Virgin Megastore on London’s Oxford Street in the guise of David Bridgford Limited right through to 2004 and the conversion of the world famous Tower Records Store on London’s Piccadilly. Our relationship spanned many of the other brands including Our Price, Virgin Cinema, VShop and latterly as Zavvi. We were also, as a testimony to our success chosen to carry out works in European cities including Amsterdam, Vienna, Brussels, Liege and The Hague.
